Bethany Wienholz - Third Year Genetics Graduate Student
Upon receiving my bachelors of science in genetics from UC Davis, I liked it so much here, that I decided to stay to work on my Ph.D. When I'm not in the lab, I'm usually found hanging out with friends from GVCC or playing with my rattus norvegicus critters, Nora and Veggie.

Amir Moarefi - Third Year CDB Graduate Student
Living almost all my life in the southern portion of this state, I received my bachelors degree from the University of California Irvine in Biology, with a specialization in Cell Biology. I am an avid traveler whenever possible and enjoy wandering around in less touristy regions of the world. In my spare time I enjoy learning about obscure things on Wikipedia and listening to independent forms of music, where i actually have my own radio show on 90.3 FM KDVS under the moniker Check McNugal.

Catherine Gordon - Second Year Genetics Graduate Student
After graduating from UC Davis with a BS in Biological Sciences in 2001 I entered the working world for four years before returning here for graduate school. I worked for biotechnology and government agencies, working the longest for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at the Joint Genome Institute. In addition, I have traveled to several different countries, obtaining an exciting taste of various cultures. I’m a huge animal lover and currently have three cats, a rat, and a goose. For fun I like to line dance, paint, and run, and enjoy conversations about everything and nothing with my wonderful friends from Davis, the bay area, and Midwest.

Duncan Johnston - Laboratory Technician

Madeline Nguyen - Undergraduate Student
I'm a native of northern California, so being here at UC Davis is (almost) like home. I am majoring in biological sciences with an emphasis in molecular and cellular biology. No matter what I'll be doing after my undergraduate years (medical/graduate school) I know that I want to help people. Other activities I'm involved in outside of the lab include Circle K International -- a community service organization, The Voice Undergraduate Health Journal, and the Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan Japanese drumming group. I like to play tennis and badminton, read, and learn about/try new things when I can.

Nicole Sadler - Undergraduate Student
I am a 5th generation Californian and genetics major here at UCD. In the past I have worked in a plant genetics lab and have had three internships at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. I am an avid ballroom, Latin, and swing dancer and I love baking, watching movies, eating ice cream, and being outside on sunny days.

Yoong Wearn Lim - Undergraduate Student
I am an international student from Malaysia. As a biotechnology major, I enjoy doing research very much especially in the field of genetics. During my free time, I enjoy reading, playing computer games, traveling and playing piano. My favorite place to go is the beach. Living and studying in California has been a very special and memorable experience for me. Chedin lab is a great lab!
