Welcome to UC Davis MCB Club website!

The MCB Club is a group of students interested in learning about molecular and cellular biology. It's a great way to meet fellow students and be involved in the life sciences. During meetings, we invite guest speakers such as research professors or health professionals to speak to the club. We also have fun social events for our members. The MCB Club is open to students of all majors.

RESEARCH TOUR! November 1st

I am happy to inform you that Dr. Lindsay Allen, the director of the USDA Western Human Nutrition Research Center, will be giving us a tour of the WHNRC on Thursday, Nov. 1st (Tomorrow) at 1:00pm. This is a great opportunity to learn about the facility and the research that takes place at the facility. You can even talk to Dr. Allen about her research interest, which is focused on the prevalence, causes, consequences and prevention of micronutrient deficiencies including iron, vitamin B-12, zinc, vitamin A and riboflavin. Depending on his availability, you might also have the opportunity to talk with Dr. Sean Adams, who, as mentioned before, studies the etiology of obesity and related metabolic disorders such as diabetes.

Club Meeting

This week we will be having Dr. Draper present to us about his research. Some of you may have had Dr. Draper before for BIS 101, but if you haven't, this will be a good opportunity to learn about what his lab does and ask him any questions about stem cells in zebrafish. Dr. Draper is known to be very friendly and willing to help students out, so don't miss out on this event.
