Passing of Dr. R. Scott Hawley

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our former MCB colleague Dr. Scott Hawley passed away this morning at his home in Kansas City.

Scott was a passionate instructor, a pioneer in the meiosis field, and a key member of the Drosophila community. He was a Professor in MCB for nearly two decades before relocating to the Stowers Institute where his career continued to flourish. Many of us and others around the world benefited from his mentorship, wisdom, insights, and humor. He will be greatly missed.
